Laparoendoscopic single site (LESS) surgery is a novel surgical approach that allows the surgeon to remove diseased organs through a small, usually 1-2 inches, skin incision. This is in distinct contrast to more invasive surgical approaches such as traditional open surgery or multiple incision laparoscopic surgery. LESS remarkably reduces post operative pain and recovery time. Dr. Asham adopted this technique in many of laparoscopic procedures such as removal of the appendix, gall bladder and colon and hernia repair.
Robotic assisted surgery is the latest technology in minimally invasive surgery. It adds precision using a wrist joint in the instruments and 3D vision. The surgeon is in total control of the instruments and the camera while sitting on a console next to the operating table.
